worth the 27 year wait
The 27th year of my life was ushered in with flair, compliments of my sneaky husband…who had yet to pull a secret over on me. He managed to corral my friends together at my favorite local breakfast spot and get me there totally clueless to the fact. The best part is that he then took the baby boys back home and I had a whole two hour brunch of kiddo-free girl time. Ahhh, totally luxurious. There’s something about not having to wipe ketchup off the grungy floor or wrangle jam packets away from your toddler that make you feel absolutely spoiled and relaxed.
Matthew had also coordinated for my friends to skip the traditional gifts and instead bring some sewing fabrics to add to my collection, that is in desparate need of being revisited again, as it’s been abandoned for the past few months of 24-7 newborn time. I was showered with beautiful fabrics and this cute box of sewing notions accompanied by a gift certificate to take a long-awaited quilting/patchwork class with my friend Lizzie. That and the one-night-a-week craft time Matthew is giving me should get me back in the swing of something other than the all-consuming Baby World I’ve been caught up in lately.
The same friend, Lizzie, also kept our two boys with her hubby that night, so Matthew and I could escape to our favorite spot in the city. All that and the opportunity to sleep in and take an uninterrupted nap in the afternoon made it a perfectly complete birthday celebration.
Thank you to everyone who made my bday so special and for all the sweet birthday wishes on the blog as well! Now back to normal life – no sleeping in this morning or any naps unfortunately, but B & I did enjoy crunching through the woods and splashing in the frigid creek thanks to the warm weather today offered and Levi offered up a few sweet dimpley smiles to keep my exhausted body rolling. These three men in my life were definitely worth waiting 27 years for.

What a wonderful birthday! Thanks for sharing
the joys of it with us! What a beautiful group
of friends, Amy! Friends are some of the nicest
gifts you can receive (and cultivate and cherish). On to 28! R & L
