We put the fun in disfunction
Thoughts from Papa Smith: I sat down to write a blog about something I’d learned just a moment ago, and now its gone. Learning something about yourself that’s not pretty is like getting a stack of cash and putting it out on the sidewalk while you run in to spend a few dollars on a red eye at starbucks. While you’re inside, all your dosh slips away.
I vaguely remember learning something about how my own bad mood throughout the day was like a series of landmines upon which my family might stumble upon and be blown to bits.
While I was giving Brighton a bath this evening and thinking about this blog, I ran across this poster from despair.com. If you can’t read it, it says: “The only constant feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.” Its funny because its true.
As sarcastic as the poster is, it points to a pretty significant biblical truth. Jesus is more concerned with Matthew getting that FOREST out of his eye before he starts scrutinizing the eyes of those who having stumbled into that forest.
Thankfully I’m not under threat of a savior like this:
Instead I have a King who both cherishes and challenges me, but promises not to shoot me.
