ice cream truck

I curse the man who wrote “Pop Goes the Weasel” every night around 7pm. Or at least the guy who decided to install it in his ice cream truck and play it about 2 measures too fast, causing you to have a panicky desire to run out and buy ice cream just so he’ll go away and stop circling the block 3+ times. But the other night, we had let B stay up and enjoy the closing evening with us and decided to buy our first bom pop of the season. With darty eyes, B kept leaning over to me saying “Ice cream. I got ICE cream!” with terrifying, sugar-induced laughter.

levi

Turning 5 months old on July 4th, he’s still our little easy-going, sleeping stud. He hates missing the action though and has retired his former “back mode” of ceiling gazing, trading it in for the “belly mode”, craning his neck to look around and soak in the sweet Smith household chaos.

Saucy, little look. I captured these about 20 minutes past when he was ready to crash. Those bags are gettin heavy.

“I have a rock!” Brighton declared to Matthew before he snapped this shot. Who is this kid? He is running, jumping, throwing, falling, and climbing his way into the second year of his life, come August. I keep wondering when he’s going to ask me to explain the meaning of life with all these random new sentences and words he’s coming up with. Today I was on the phone and he tapped my shoulder, held up his palm to me and said “Be righ back, Mama. Be righ back. Papa, okay?” As in saying he wanted to go see Matthew and he’d be right back. Oh these mannerisms they pick up….kiiinda scary.

So that’s all for now. I’m off to scarf down some tofu and naan before heading off to pick up bunk beds, drop off a crib, and hang out with Mary. There’s some big stuff brewing in the Smith household which I’ll share soon. No, there are no buns in the oven. At least, let’s all keep our fingers crossed on that one.

Levi is unbelievably cute in that pic where he’s looking at the camera.

Such cute pics! I’ve always been amazed at the quality of your photos. I’m sure that you and Matthew have a lot to do with it since you’re creative and all, but I’m also convinced that you have a nice camera. We have a 35mm Canon Rebel and are looking to buy the digital body b/c we can switch out the lenses (or, so we’ve heard). However, we’re trying to get as much advice as possible before we take the plunge b/c maybe we just need to go with another camera all together. Any insight you can give?

MB – I know the question was for Amy, but I felt like answering it as well! :) Hope nobody will mind :) I’ve got a Nikon D40 (don’t know if they’re available in the US though!), and it’s the best camera I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s an expensive one, but after using it awhile, I can only say that it sure was worth the money. Honestly. So if Nikon’s D series is available in the US, I stronly recommend them :)

PS. Those two pics of Levi in his baby blue onesie are incredibly cute! :)

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
