snow day
...if an inch or two really qualifies. At least, growing up in the south, that would have been enough to shut down the whole town.
We don’t stay on top of the weather, so this morning we were surprised to see the thin layer of white outside our window. Brighton kept exclaiming “Snoooow, snoooow”. It sounds too much like his favorite word “No” to not be exclaimed over and over when he’s given the opportunity.
Although he wasn’t as fond of it when he headed outdoors in his unbroken-in boots that caused him to repeatedly faceplant in the unfamiliar cold, wet ice on the ground. He ended up just laying in it for awhile before we decided we’d wait on a more worthwhile snow to get too soggy and cold.
Matthew’s parents just sent us this beautiful aerial shot of their home/farm and land in Fort Collins, CO. It made me miss Colorado winters and seeing the snow covered mountains and vast stretches of land. Even though I grew up with no such thing in site, just being there a year after marriage made me fall in love with it.
We’re somewhat getting back on our feet after a hard, sick weekend. Matthew let me sleep most of the day away yesterday, which I largely contributed to my feeling like a somewhat-normal person today. Even though the cold still lingers, it’s not nearly as debilitating as it was yesterday. So far B & I have had a cozy day making chicken & wild rice soup and reading quite a few books together on the couch. Thanks for all the encouragement and prayers sent our way yesterday!
