rain n' shine

Our weekend has consisted of a series of walks enjoying both the breezy sunshine and chilly drizzle. Friday was a beautiful spring day spent roaming around Chestnut Hill, visiting the Farmer’s Market and ending the evening with our favorite indulgence, Schmitters from McNalley’s Pub. Here we are outside O’Doodles with their bubble machine mesmerizing Brighton.

I’ve been relishing every day of “freedom” I’ve had from the work world thus far. Airing out the dusty corners of our home, brushing off the cookbooks and presenting some long-lost favorite dishes, picking flowers around our neighborhood to bring spring indoors and spending lots of time “chashing” B around the house. We’re amazed at how fast he perfected his crawling techinque this week and how he now heads off to see me in the kitchen within minutes of me leaving him with this toys in the den. Some moments captured through the week…

As for our poor little guy, Brighton has just picked up his first illness of his short life – a nasty, invasive cold. Matthew’s bravely tackled the saltwater spray and nasal bulb so I can avoid Brighton’s protesting screams. While I get to cuddle our mellow guy and tote him around with me in the sling in his sick, don’t-put-me-down state. It breaks your heart to see your kiddo confused by having his body overtaken with something he doesn’t understand – unable to breathe through his runny nose and rattling cough.

Only another week and a half until we’re off to the glorious baking sun of Arizona to visit our friends, the Hines. We couldn’t be more ready for a break from life and the dreary Philly weather, and to see our dear friends we’ve yet to see since our move from Colorado over a year ago!

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
