preparations
Brighton and I have been working on some decorations for a small-scale celebration we’re throwing for him on Friday. Hopefully the heat will have dispersed some by then and the outdoor festivity won’t leave us all swooning.
These poof balls of varying sizes will be hung from the tree and Brighton’s birthday banner – still in the works – will complete the simple decor. When he can appreciate it all a bit more, we might kick the creativity up a notch. But with the impending move, this is about all I can muster…along with a huge stack of 40 hot dogs.
A new number for each year. My mom did a similar type of banner for us when we were younger.
Levi helped me pack some boxes today while Brighton napped. Or rather, tested the durability of the boxes with his gums. If they can survive baby drool, they can survive anything.
We’ve got a little blondy on our hands. Just like his Dad as a youngin.
Tonight I escape with friends to Chestnut Hill to enjoy a Hoegaarden at McNalleys and a concert on the lawn. I am attempting to soak up my friend, Rachel, who just moved into town, as much as she’ll allow me before we head to SC in a few weeks.
Lastly, I’ve recently had to make some of my flickr photos private due to unappreciated activity on my site. If you’d like access to all my photos, just send me your name and email on my contact page and I’ll get you set up. Or better yet, send me your flickr contact info and we can be pals.

“All I can muster” needs to be clarified. I love birthdays. No scratch that, I am OBSESSED with birthdays. Ask anyone in my family. Particularly my youngest sister, by 10 years, who had to endure my ridiculous themed birthday parties I’d throw for her and her little friends – pig theme, indian theme. I would love to make fun little hats and matching gift bags and so on and so on. But those were the days I had nothing better to do than hang out with high school friends, eat Big Macs, and stress about which mini skirt to wear. Mothering has changed my priorities. Time to be creative in the ways I love is a luxury I may have back some day…most likely not until the boys are in college and then I’ll have to start throwing Matthew themed-birthday-parties…starting with the piggy theme :)

Amy, keep uson your Flikr site please. I do so
enjoy your pics. That Birthday Banner is a stroke of genius on your part…what a great idea…..but its so long! Where are you going to hang it? From the Roof….tall tree? Hope
you get our pkg in time for the party….Eat
a hot dog for me! Hang on to your creativity. It will have more use than you can imagine once those boys go to school….I made Charlie a Billy Goat Gruff head piece once for a school play.4th or 5th….It was rather remarkable!
Happy Birthday, Brighton Grandmother
