passing time

I think B’s finally on the upswing. Even amidst coughing/sneezing fits, he was able to exhibit some more spunk today. Instead of lounging around on the couch and floor, he began pacing his domain again – pulling books off the shelf, attempting to climb on the coffee table and sneaking away from our floor mural to try to color the dining room walls instead.

As tiring as it is to manage a newly independant toddler who often gets frustrated with his limitations, it is so nice to have our son back!! I’d rather feel the fatigue of rearing a healthy B any day over having to feel so helpless seeing our little guy battle such a nasty bug.

As for other time-passers, I was able to get a few more meals in the freezer, which felt so relieving. I know, seems silly, but it’s the little things these days. After all my high hopes of being stocked up for a month of meals, I think we’ll maybe have 2 weeks worth at most. But that’s at least better than the lone bag of frozen broccoli I had last time.

At a little over 36 weeks, I just have less energy than I guess I’d planned on. That extra 15 pounds of watermelon belly you see below is weighing me down, making those simple daily tasks seem exhausting. Making dinner for tonight is one thing, making something to eat a few months from now just seems ludicrious. Hence the relieving feeling of adding at least a few more to the freezer to tide us over in our post-baby sleep-deprived state.

The last time-passer we just hung this evening. I know what you’re thinking. Is she crazy?! She just said she had no energy?! Yes, but I also come from a family of staunch bee-in-the-bonneters. If some project has snuck into that red zone in my mind, it will not be silenced until it has reached completion. For some reason, this fabric was one of those. We wanted something different and a little more colorful for behind our t.v. And this is what we found at IKEA the other day. Fabric we both dug and an agreed upon decorating idea (which is somewhat rare in a household of two stubborn people)...so we jumped on it.

The pillows are showing the front and back. Now we just wished we had a decent couch to place them on. Isn’t that how the grass-is-always-greener syndrome works?

And lastly, a close-up through the shelves. The nice thing is, it’s fabric, so when we’re bored with it down the road, we can take it down and make a skirt or some funky pants out of it and try out something new.

Thanks for all the activity suggestions and dream deciphering from the last post. Matthew was mad that I didn’t post the funniest part to him – that the ducks were not just biting me, but they were biting me in the groin. At the time, that didn’t seem quite blog appropriate, but in light of a lot of people’s thoughts that the ducks were symbolic of parenting/birth/new baby etc… it makes sense. Birth pain fears, new baby fears, can-we-do-this fears. So there you go, attacking ducks. Makes sense to me :)

I forgot I never shared a recipe with you…Black Bean salsa. Its not a whole meal, but a great dish. Tweak however you like. Main ingredients: black beans, corn, tomatoes, avacados, & onions. Its so yummie that you don’t need to add any seasonings, but of course you can. And its healthy with veggies and protien and good energy! This is from a Nutrition minor:)Serve hot or cold, both good! ~A

Incredible … IKEA is spread all over the world. I was only looking at your photos and thought: looks like IKEA .. well, and here you go :) thought IKEA is only present in Europe. However, nice pattern on the fabric!
