one out of five

Brighton still continues to rely heavily on one out of all the other four senses to explore his world. He hops on the back of the shopping cart at the store…and immediately begins licking his tongue back and forth on the edges. He slides down the slide backwards at the park…with his tongue dragging down it the entire way. He simply must taste everything new. Now the mystery of why we constantly have illness in our family is becoming a little more clear.

Yesterday he captured a caterpillar in our sandbox and wanted to bring him along on our trip to the park. I ran inside to grab his insect cage only to emerge and find him licking the caterpillar. “I taste him, Mama!”. Yes, I can see that. He later licked an ant off his finger that he’d discovered on the sidewalk.

When he attempted to lick a booger off his finger that he’d just retrieved, I told him that was poo-poo from his nose…and he hasn’t tried it again. Without a few of these lies, how else am I going to stop this fascination??

Popsicles with his buddies…

The preferred t.v. watching pose of late…

Well, I don’t know…they have a very distinct
taste…a bit salty! Or maybe that’s tears I am
remembering! Great pics! Great story!
Thanks! Gran Manu’ere

Hi Amy,
I am a friend of Rosie’s and she sent me the link to your blog to see Ellie and Sam.Cute pictures. As for the “lie” factor. I tell my three year old that the candy at the grocery checkout line is only for dogs, and she doesn’t like dog food.
Happy blogging,
Em

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
