NO SCHOOL!!

Oh wait…it’s Sunday. And oh wait…I’m not six years old anymore. All those years of living in the south, praying for a snow flurry to shut down the town, and namely school, has ingrained in me a default to think FREEDOM! when the snow starts falling. I still jump out of bed at 6am to turn on the news and see what the “ruler test” declares the snow total to be.

This morning it boasted a whopping 10 inches and still counting as the snow continues to swirl outside. Brighton stared out the window wide-eyed, maybe wondering where all the colors went and why the world had suddenly been robbed of his living mobile – the green grass, blue sky, black street, red stop signs – all outside his very own window.

Once Matthew and Brighton wake up, we’ll probably bundle ourselves up and go exploring with our boots and camera for B’s first real snow. He’s not much of a sledder yet, at 6 months (as of Tuesday). Although he’d probably make a decent snowball if we rolled him down a hill. And we’ll have to make our trek to the store for some diapers. An item we’ll have to remember to add to the “milk & bread” list next time before a big snow, seeing as we’re down to 4 this morning.

So we’ll share the pics later on, but for now, here’s some from yesterday.

Matthew forcing me to be an accomplice in trying out his new lusty tripod, which for you fellow gear geeks, can be checked out on the FamDamily site photo

Brighton enjoying his first meal in his new highchair. This week we’re moving on to bigger & better things, sweet potatoes! I just made the first batch last night from an enormous 2lb. organic sucker. He seemed to enjoy “licking” the bowl, with Matthew’s help. I doubt he’s going to be much of a picky eater…just like his momma :)

It’s all Matthew, the infamous artist in the family…and saving his pretty pennies for a Canon Rebel. That’ll make any shot amazing!

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
