mr. fish

I don’t think he’s going to make it. Mr. Fish joined our family early this morning and I’ll be surprised if he’s still around tomorrow morning. I asked the teen fishing him out of the tank if he looked sick, to which he simply replied, “Well it is early. He might still be waking up.” As if fish sleep. The highly trained manager of the fish department.

Brighton adores his new fish. He likes to check in with him throughout the day. “Fish. Fish”. Making sure he’s still enjoying his new home here with us. Hopefully his short-term memory will still be in effect tomorrow morning if we wake up to Mr. Fish tanning his belly in the window. We’ll hopefully be able to sneak him off to our toilet before B arises. Or maybe Mr. Fish will surprise us and stick around for awhile.

We just put Emily on a train back to Virginia and we’re already missing her. B frantically shouted “Diggy! Diggy! Diggy!” as I drove away after dropping her off in front of the station. Trying to alert me to the fact that I just left someone very important behind. Yesterday he ran in to her room saying “Diggy. Diggy. Play! PLAY!” I’m sure she’ll enjoy being able to sleep in these last few days of her spring break after she gets home, but we’ll sure miss having her around.

To make up for the lack of photos over the past week, I’ve got quite a few to pass on. Apologies to those of you with slow internet. B’s ready to get outdoors, so I’ll just drop these and run. More words to come soon.

B in his Philly Easter finest. Philly finest, we realized, does not include white hats, gloves, suits or skirts…of which I grew up with in the South. Philly Easter finest is instead made up of “nicer” jeans and maybe some funky collared shirt.

Diggy & Levi on Easter Morning

Mom & barefoot B

Gorgeous birthday flowers from my mom that graced our Easter table we shared with a few dear friends

Emily captured the following shots of our happy camper early one morning and of our growing baby boy, weighing in at almost 13lbs for his 2 month appointment! In the 75th percentile he may just outrank his bro who is still trying to make it to the 20th percentile…

B telling the falling Easter snow to hit the road and leave our poor, just-bloomed forsythia alone

Like father, like son…B tries to prop up his feet on the new chair just like Matthew while reading

Rex and I just looked at & printed the pics. Thank you for them…I won’t bore you again
by telling you how we count on them. Levi
has such a calm look … may be misleading???
Kung Fu? Great form! Calling an aunt by a
nick name (Diggy) reminds me of my aunt
(Mother’s sister, Bonnie) I grew up calling her
“Punk”...only recently changing it to Bonnie.
Punk & Poolie were the worst nicknames the
family could give the two of us. But we were
quite a pair! Love to all & the fish.

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
