moving day
The moving truck is parked. The unloading has begun. The remnants from our Philadelphian life are being carefully stacked along the walls of our new home here in Greenville. Boxes and boxes and boxes.
Matthew, Callie and my cousin, Charlie, are there now. Starting the massive job that will hopefully be completed with the help of more cousins this evening. I am back at our base camp, of the past week, waiting for the boys to wake from their naps and trying to rest my own sick body.
Brighton’s cold has refused to offer him any respite as the hacking and stuffy nose continue. And in the meantime, it also decided to hang out with me for awhile, in the form of a sore throat and raging headaches.
But relief has arrived on a train from Virginia. Callie showed up early yesterday morning and has jumped right in to the chaos, despite her lack of sleep and adjusting to a new time zone from CA. Washing dishes, juggling babies, forcing me to sleep. She’s the next best thing to having a mom around.
There is a light at the end of this long tunnel I feel we’ve been wading through over the past few weeks. I actually saw our bed in the truck last night. I saw our box of familiar bedding. And my box of “Open Me First” things – including our dearly missed french press and a pound of coffee from Highpoint that we were given by the owner as a going-away gift. The comforts of home are just a few hours away. Maybe I’ll actually be under my own covers this evening and waking up to our own french-pressed pot of Highpoint coffee tomorrow morning.

Amy, glad to know moving day is here. You know (or Matthew does) that I’m always ready
to dish out unsolicited advice….But I do have
some suggestions that I have given my clients
thru the years….1. Choose one room that you
get ship shape…where you can find order &
quiet in the midst of disorder. 2. Choose
anothe room where you stack everything that
is not essential to daily life….then take one
box from that room to unpack when you have
time. 3. Take plenty of time to decide where
your Kitchen stuff goes…chances are you will
never move it once it is in place there.
4. Don’t try to hang anything on the wall til
you are in a good humor (lots of stress there)
There are some new hangers I’ve seen that
make a very small hole in the wall but are
quite strong in that they have a curved hook
inside the wall.
Have some fun. There’s no great hurry to
settle in at the cost of pleasure in making a
nest. Glad you have lots of loving help. Wish
I were among them! Gran Manu’ere

Amy-
Congrats on your new home! It looks lovely! I have been praying for your family these past few weeks, as I can relate to many transitions recently! So glad your mom is coming soon. Would you please tell her hello and that we have been praying for her during this difficult time as well.
Blessings!
Stacey
