No my brain did not turn to mush after my fabulous girl’s weekend away, leaving me spacey, starry-eyed and unable to formulate a coherent sentence for a blog entry. Rather, change is in the air. The winds are stirring. Leaving... Keep Reading...

Matthew snapped a shot of the kind welcome home gift I left for him at our back door. I know he had to have missed the lovely fragrance of our children’s morning dump while he was gone on a men’s... Keep Reading...

the job and race season

Due to the inflexibility of life with small children, I nixed the interior design field for now. Hopefully to be picked up in a few years down the road when the boys are in school and I’m sitting at home... Keep Reading...

I’ve so missed writing and sharing the comings & goings here at the Smith homestead on a more regular basis, but some seasons simply necessitate “unplugging”, in many sorts. Writing, in itself, has always been a sweet retreat for me... Keep Reading...

All you parents out there, instead of reading a lengthy minismith blog today, I highly encourage you to read this article from CCEF on our relationship with our children, and how much we need Jesus in this day to day... Keep Reading...

apple cakes

This morning we baked apple cakes for our neighbors. From an onlookers perspective, this would have been considered a quaint, generous endeavor. Brighton and I would have been found picturesquely bustling about the kitchen, covered in flour and standing in... Keep Reading...

Until our little B turns two. He’s transformed over the last few months into a high-energy, talking, running, 100% boy. He refuses to pee on his potty sitting down, but demands to stand like his dad. He has surprisingly good... Keep Reading...

the unwelcomed visitor

What began on Sunday evening as a luxurious, relaxing start to the week – grilling with friends, sipping wine, laughing late into the evening – quickly transitioned into a high-strung, unbearably chaotic mothering week. It is Friday afternoon. And all... Keep Reading...

It was a deceiving morning. Levi slept peacefully. Brighton romped around boy-style in his boots, smashing ants and throwing dirt. I sat on the steps perusing my favorite cookbooks for tasty kale recipes, thanks to a massive bag full of... Keep Reading...

more adventures in mothering advice

I just returned from Target with the boys where I picked up a few exciting items like nursing pads, toilet paper and tissues. Dutifully but bitterly avoiding the tempting items like cute flip-flops, funky jewelry, and a fun kid’s eating... Keep Reading...

Our week flew by, thus the lack of posting done in minismith land. Despite our flurry of activities, Brighton did manage to coerce me into dragging the pool out of the basement, heralding the beginning of water-play weather. Now he... Keep Reading...

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
