I should be working

Okay, its 9:32am, and I have a TON of projects to get worked on, but man alive, I can’t keep this bottled inside. A moment ago, Amy yelled into my office (really its our bedroom):

Matthew… Where’s the camera?

I thought nothing of it. Amy takes pictures all the time, great pictures as well (in my opinion, but I’m biased). So when I came into the rest of the house to see what she was taking pictures of, you can imagine my surprise to find that Amy had painted Brighton’s toenails sultry pink!

I am supposed to be a sensitive man, and not care about these things right. I cry much more than amy does, and yet seeing those little pink toes just made me go cuckoo. I, the “reformed”, gospel driven, free thinking man, crawled out of my skin and right into Homer’s.

Anybody remember this?

I’m only joking of course, in case any of you are having a heart attack. I simply asked told Amy that the next time Brighton was to have his toenails painted, they ought to be black, so that if he’s going to push the social norms, he can push them in ways that feel more comfortable to me. :)

I remember the time that Dave Braud photographed Henry wearing one of Ellie’s bikinis. He and Sarah thought it was hilarious. Me, not so much. I encouraged my boys to be nurturing by supplying baby dolls and enrolled them in art classes in a sea of little girls but when it came to dress ups involving girls’ clothes, I couldn’t handle it.

Simpson clip was too funny. Thanks for that.

Susan,
That’s hilarious! We had a hoot of a time with you and Geoff last night. Thanks for coming by and talking gospel with us.

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two minismiths (with the third having beat us all to heaven, lucky duck), wife to Matthew, crazy-loved daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

As healing and growth has blown the lid off 2009 for our family, we stand amazed at the overwhelming love of our Father and his sweaty diligence in sawing away the dead branches this year. It was messy, trust me.

2010 has continued to press us hard into Jesus as an unexpected pregnancy put a halt on our adoption plans, leaving us overjoyed with anticipation for minismith #3. Only to find out Jesus had called her back to Himself 9 weeks later.

We now stand with our hands open, asking Him to fill our aching hearts with Himself and lead us on through this season of healing.

You can find my random daily musings on twitter.
