Despite appearances, Brighton was not a cowboy, but rather a Shark Hunter. Here he is attacking his prey…

We had a fun evening, joining a group of friends at Natalee and Wes’ house for chili, homemade cornbread and sangria before the trick-or-treating ceremony began. We traipsed through the neighborhood with two spidermen, one skeleton, two princesses, a fairy, a dragon and a retro cowboy (thanks to my brother John’s hand-me-down 70’s cowboy costume for B). It was quite a crew. An adventure for B’s first true Halloween experience. I think he dug the candy idea and being up well past his 6pm bedtime, but wasn’t so in to the somewhat shady costumes we encountered. We ended the night with his head on my shoulder and the lollipop he’d been working on for over an hour stuck in my hair.

My cute, pregnant cousin, Natalee, and her Salvation Army costume find. I dubbed it the Monty Python version of God.

Hopefully Levi won’t be the Screaming-Teething-Banshee for Halloween tonight, like he’s been for the past few nights with his top two teeth bloodying his gums…forcing Matthew and I to claim the role of Grumpy Zombies at 2am.

Unfortunately, we lost one of the princesses to either a halloween tantrum or a serious blood glucose plunge around 9:30. Between the sobbing, her mom deciphered that the culprit of the “worst halloween ever” was apple juice being spilled on the candy. Oh, the carnage!

These pictures are too cute! My fairy and spider would have loved to be part of the crew! Funny thing is that we had chili and cornbread as well on Halloween so we were almost dining together ;)

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
