gutsy women

I’ve been reading a compilation of the writings of Michal Ann Goll, who passed away last year. She was one of those women who Jesus set free from years of operating out of fear – fear of man, fear of failure, fear of worth – and used her to empower other women to do the same.

I love this quote from her book Women on the Front Lines: A Call to Courage where she is challenging women to fight back against all those lies we believe about ourselves, about our circumstances, about our lives.

Dont’ let your fears stand in the way…Take out the spike of intimidation and, like the Israelite woman Jael did to the Philistine Sisera in Judges 4, drive it into the enemy’s head and kill the plans and schemes he has devised against you. We must be ruthless with the devil; he surely has no mercy on us!

If you’ve never read that story in Judges (I hadn’t, in my prim and proper Christian upbringing), go check it out.

Oh to have woman-balls like that!

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, crazy-loved daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

As healing and growth has blown the lid off 2009 for our family, we stand amazed at the overwhelming love of our Father and his sweaty diligence in sawing away the dead branches this year. It was messy, trust me.

And our previous thought of “being done” with our family is now laughable, as God has opened our hearts to the beauty and urgency of adoption. There is a child out there God always knew would be a minismith and we’re on the path to find him/her.

You can find my random daily musings on twitter.
