Grace in Small Things: Day 111 of 2009

1. Spring rain that lasts just long enough to make the newly arrived-green everywhere more vibrant.

2. The hope, that keeps me pressing on, that the boys will not be unpotty-trained teenagers. There is an end in sight. I will not be cleaning up explosive poo off the floors forever. Hopefully that will be commencing sooner than teenagehood.

3. Praying for an opportunity for our family to “get outside of ourselves” and be able to serve someone/somewhere. And a mere two hours later, having that answered.

4. Having siblings and parents to actually really miss, and to look forward to spending time with in a few months.

5. Hard, miserable talks that you desperately want to warp out of…that lead to deeper, richer, sweeter love and partnership.

Wage a battle against embitterment and take part in 365 days of Grace in Small Things

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two minismiths (with the third having beat us all to heaven, lucky duck), wife to Matthew, crazy-loved daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

As healing and growth has blown the lid off 2009 for our family, we stand amazed at the overwhelming love of our Father and his sweaty diligence in sawing away the dead branches this year. It was messy, trust me.

2010 has continued to press us hard into Jesus as an unexpected pregnancy put a halt on our adoption plans, leaving us overjoyed with anticipation for minismith #3. Only to find out Jesus had called her back to Himself 9 weeks later.

We now stand with our hands open, asking Him to fill our aching hearts with Himself and lead us on through this season of healing.

You can find my random daily musings on twitter.
