fooled

Yesterday morning I was wearing a skirt and flip-flops as Brighton, Levi and I explored the woods near our house. Building “houses” with sticks and rocks, enjoying the warm breeze and beautiful sunshine. I was gullible enough to believe that maybe, just maybe, spring had arrived. Ha.

I now sit here staring out the window at a vast expanse of white. Yes, snow has arrived. Or rather some sort of ice/snow mix that began as soft rain this morning and quickly turned hard and white, covering the roads, sidewalks and the hopeful little crocuses that had just been lured out of the ground by the warm weather over these past few days.

I have to be honest, I couldn’t be more annoyed.

All I see when I look outside is days of waiting for the sludgy parks to dry up again, the neighbors to clear their sidewalk enough to pass through with a stroller, the grass to emerge in our side yard again, and more cooped up days inside. I’m wearing my “glass is most definitely half empty right now” glasses, can you tell?

I wish I had some pictures to liven up this whiny post, but we’ve been too busy romping around outside to drag along the camera. So now YOU have something to look forward to…this nasty weather offering a few days worth of creative indoor pictures to share. We’ll get right on that.

I’m still trying to get used to this new “redesign”, even though I didn’t want a redesign because, as my close friends and family know, I hate change. And it’s taking me ages to go back through all my posts to categorize them. But I’m liking some of the new features, especially having a flickr spot to drop my photos instead of the old more difficult to maintain Photos page. And I’m definitely enjoying not having a boring static links page and this new rolling links idea.

What are your thoughts? Things you like? Things you miss? I’d really love to hear (as I’m sure Matthew would as well…psst, tell him to change that goofy picture of Levi which he keeps swearing he’s going to get around to one of these days!). If you wouldn’t mind sharing, one random question I have is what size screen are you all using? Because I miss the grey being on both sides instead of just the right side, but designing for that kind of depends on what size screen majority of my readers are using. So you multitude of lurkers you, this is your time to share!

Hope you all are staying warm and cozy and a little more chipper than myself with this schizophrenic weather.

Hi Amy,

I fit into the aforementioned “lurker category”. But I lurk on about 70+ blogs these days. So grateful for RSS feeds! I’m not sure what screen size I use. Widescreen. 1280 × 768—does that help? But I still see a lot of grey/gray right now even with IE’s RSS feed bar hanging out taking up too much space.

I love that you all have the talent and know how to make a unique, beautiful site…Me? I could spend hours and hours learning, playing etc… but Blogger works for me for the time being. Plus when I get to Liberia, Africa where I have to pay by the hour for internet— minimal, simple and easy are the ways for blog survival.

Love the rolling links. Love reading your posts—you are a great communicator, transparent in your struggles to stay focused on what’s truly important.

Peace of the Lord be with you all on this cold wet snowy day (here in Cville as well after 80 degree temps yesterday).

Perfect, Joy. That’s just what we need, the 1280×768 is the screen resolution we’re looking for. Anyone else?

Joy – how the heck are ya??!! Are you really going to Africa?

AC – I don’t like change either but I do like your site. I’m getting used to it though…

No idea what size screen I have. I sometimes have my laptop docked and sometimes I don’t so who knows. :)

One more thing… both of my webcounters (Statcounter & ShinyStat) actually track what screen size/resolution is being used by my viewers… you could employ one of them for a time to see what people are using….just a thought.

I love the catagories. I know that’s more work but now your readers can click on specific catagories to read more. Your Flickr is great! Love it. Will the top left design still change? I liked that.
