christmas festivities

Despite our entire family coming down with a host of various illnesses over the past few days, the Christmas festivities came and went, offering us an enjoyable respite from the crumpled tissues, luke-warm cups of tea and sleepless nights.

Christmas Eve began with a stroll downtown, enjoying the first sunny day since Mom & Dad arrived, then ended with a party at Natalee’s and later game night with our family.

Matthew chatting on the phone…as always

Sister Diggy…my new nanny. We’re trying to convince her to ditch college for a year and live with us :)

Leaving the toy store is never easy with a toddler

John thinks it’s pretty funny…you just WAIT, John.

Glad we live in the south where we can now buy guns for our children. This was one of B’s favorite gifts, which he wore all day today.

B’s other favorite gift, his vintage barn for all his trucks

Matthew’s gifts for his boys, which were so stinking cute on them…very Royal Tenenbaums, if only Matthew and I had matching ones

Hurray for power tools!

Creepy, creepy kiss

There are plenty more on my flickr site if you still didn’t get your fill. And while you’re at it, get your rear over to Good Reads and start a list so we can swap must-reads. This is an awesome idea, in my book-loving-opinion. I hate the work involved in finding something worthwhile to read, so this is a great lazy man’s approach, by letting others do the work for you and tell you what you’ll like. Brilliant.

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas.

More great pics! Thanks! Everyone looks well
and happy! Glad to see a pic of your g’mother.
Remember you are going to make me a list of
your relatives who live in G. so I will know of
whom you speak on occasion. Nice to know
you had a great holiday visit with all. L.

Okay – so I’m holding you personally responsible for introducing me to a HUGE new time waster. I cannot stop looking at good reads, and thinking of books I’ve read, or want to read. Thanks for the link as now I have something new to do while on call. :)

I am Amy Smith

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two minismiths (with the third having beat us all to heaven, lucky duck), wife to Matthew, crazy-loved daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

As healing and growth has blown the lid off 2009 for our family, we stand amazed at the overwhelming love of our Father and his sweaty diligence in sawing away the dead branches this year. It was messy, trust me.

2010 has continued to press us hard into Jesus as an unexpected pregnancy put a halt on our adoption plans, leaving us overjoyed with anticipation for minismith #3. Only to find out Jesus had called her back to Himself 9 weeks later.

We now stand with our hands open, asking Him to fill our aching hearts with Himself and lead us on through this season of healing.

You can find my random daily musings on twitter.
