are we done yet?
The gnawing question that hovers over the teetering piles of boxes growing taller each day. We are tired and ready for this to be over.
Brighton seems to cautiously be taking it all in. Watching as his toys “disappear” into a box labeled “Boys Room”. Nervously examining the rooms that are becoming increasingly unfamiliar in their emptiness and echoes. Watching his play area shrink to make way for more boxes.
He is being a trooper though in the midst of all the change. Finding ways to turn the unfamiliar into an opportunity for fun. Take the moving boxes, for instance. Yesterday, he crawled underneath one and announced he was a turtle as he wobbled around attempting to balance the massive box on his back. Then he’d lay down, pulled in his head, arms and legs, announcing it was turtle’s bedtime. I wish the camera battery had not been dead.
Today, he spent most of the morning inside a box. Stuffing “letters” through the “mailbox slot”, picking them up and starting all over again.
He’s also enjoyed scavenging various treasures discovered under moved furniture. You don’t want to know what he’s taste-tested behind my back.
Levi still seems unphased by the all change.
The next few days will be filled with more packing, more tossing, and finally a much-needed date night to celebrate Matthew’s birthday this past Sunday. Most likely our last romp in the city together. Thank you Monica for offering up the free night of babysitting! And to ALL our other amazing friends bringing meals, offering babysitting help while we pack, and breaking their backs to get our truck loaded over the weekend and first of next week. We are going to miss you all dearly.
