after the storm

Brighton and I were taking in the stunning light in our backyard after a particularly ferocious rain storm a few days ago. Since then, the weather has been fresh, warm and full of the hope of spring.

It is hard for me to recall last year at this time. When snow storm number 3, since Levi’s birth, had hit Philly and I was housebound – yet again – with a one month old and a rambunctious 19 month old. I remember being so excited about the blooming forsythia in our yard…that was only to be snow covered and burnt by the ice just a week later. What grace Christ must have offered us during those long winter days.

Needless to say, the weather down here is a definite plus.

Tomorrow I head off with some girls for a much needed gals weekend away in Asheville. We’ll be soaking away the stress at a day spa tomorrow and then enjoying sleeping in, eating good food, drinking good wine and trying to remember to miss our lives, just a little, that we left behind in Greenville.

With this being the first time I’ve been away from the boys for more than 12 hours, I don’t think I’m going to know what to do with myself when morning comes and there are no poopy diapers to change, sippy cups to fill or crud to clean off the floor.

Actually, scratch that…I’ll know just what to do. Smile, fluff my pillow and roll back over in bed. Blissfully alone.

well, i’m living out the philly winter, but thankfully it hasn’t been too bad (plus i haven’t been ‘confined’ with two kiddos!). miss you guys.

enjoy Asheville and the spa. it’s practically like your old gettaway at CC – the carter tub! haha.

i’ll be with matthew in spirit — sarah’s actually away for work this weekend (in pittsburgh doing a home-study). there’ll be no pillow fluffing for me (or matthew). tell him to call me and we can cry together — and have fun amy!

Oh… I have been to the Grove Park Inn and LOVED it. Girl you are never going to go back home… maybe.

Have fun! Wear your robe all.day.long.
