a years worth of fabric

I missed out on the big Philly Sewing Collective Fabric Swap held in April, but Lizzie had connected with the owner of the adorable boy’s clothing line, WonderBoy while she was there roaming around. And had ended up scoring a pile of beautiful fabric from the gal for mere pennnies. I wanted to kick myself for not escaping that afternoon and getting my rear down there.

But awesome Lizzie emailed the gal again and asked if we could come raid whatever stash she had leftover. Upon arriving at her cutting studio this morning, I would not call those mounds of rolls leftovers. There were piles of amazing fabrics that would easily run $10 a yard. Amy Butler, Munki Munki, Alexander Henry. It was my Christmas in June. We paid a tiny fraction of the orginal cost and escaped with our arms full of funky, cool fabrics.

My favorites are above, but here’s part of the lot. I couldn’t even fit them all in. The distance doesn’t do the cool designs justice anyhow. Now visions of capris for the boys, fun little baby gifts for friends, and cute summer tanks and skirts for myself will be dancing through my head as I try to steal a nap before the boys arise.

Hi, Amy,

I couldn’t help but follow the link to your blog from Mary’s own blog page. I love your fabrics, sewing ideas etc. And…of course the fact that you and your husband enjoy bluegrass. We’re Nashvillians and LOVE Old Crow Medicine and Gillian Welch (who is also our neighbor…crazy!). Kudos for keeping up with blogging and 2 kiddos!

Blessings in Him,
Kristen Willis

Amy Smith and Family including Matthew, Brighton, and Levi

I’m a mother of two, wife to Matthew, daughter of the King, and fervent believer in the healing power of bluegrass music.

I now live in the great city of Greenville, SC, leaving behind Philadelphia, the city where Matthew and I fell in love and saw our two boys come in to the world.

Our recent move from north to south has begun the next chapter in the life of the Smith clan, possibly the most trying and difficult as of yet…learning to become true southerners.
