This shot of B says it all. These past few days have practically worn us into the ground. I honestly don’t have the energy to rehash it all, but trust me, if I could curl up on the floor as comfortably as Brighton, I would have many times over the past 72 hours.
We postponed the departure of our trip down south that was supposedly beginning today and will instead be waking with the sun tomorrow morning to begin our 12+ hour trip to Greenville, SC.
Matthew therefore claimed today as “Break for Mom” day, allowing me to sleep in, pack, straighten the house, and be baby-boy free for a total of 5 glorious hours. I wouldn’t have traded winning the lottery in exchange for those luxurious 5 hours of peace and quiet. Unless winning the lottery meant I could hire a full-time nanny.
I will be a much kinder and more bearable road-trip partner for everyone involved after this restful “Break for Mom” day. I probably would have self-combusted before we’d even crossed the PA state line if we’d stuck with our original ETD.
We’ll be enjoying the almost 75% of the Hall family that currently resides in Greenville while we’re there. Feasting on BBQ and dancing the evening away on Friday night at my aunt and uncle’s new home in the downtown area. There’s something so comforting and sweet about being with family, especially with my parents across the Atlantic in London these days. Brighton will think he died and went to heaven with so many little boys to run around and get dirty with. There are a total of 7 second cousins, or whatever they’d be considered to him, there in Greenville, all under the age of 4, I believe.
To close, a mailing we received with our first cell phone bill. Thank goodness they sent me a list of popular text abbreviations. I was feeling so, like, last decade without being up on the text slang. But where’s “Oh no you DIDN’T” – ONYD, or “Are you for RE-al?!” – AU4R? At least they had OMG and NOYB for me. Whew, where would I have been without those saucy terms to use?
And yes, I’m glad they set my mind at ease, clarifying the fact that it was okay for me to relax in the tub with my cell phone. I wasn’t sure what I’d do while sitting bored in the bath tub. Haven’t we all been dying to find something to pass time while bathing?! Now I can guiltlessly play solitaire or pick out new ring tones while “relaxing”. Just what every mom wants, something to DO while trying to UNwind. Right. Next bathing experience, maybe I’ll bring in the laundry or dishes to wash to pass time.
I doubt I’ll be around minismith much while we’re gone, so here’s to a sweet two weeks for all.
